8th Grade Band
Eighth Grade Band is the top performing concert ensemble at Lakeshore Middle School. Students continue to expand upon instrument fundamentals found in the previous grades with a new emphasis on performance in high school. Solo and Ensemble opportunities are offered as well as opportunites for district and state level MSBOA honor bands. Students do not need to audition for enrollment. Private lessons are highly recommended. The 8th grade band typically holds four performances throughout the year including a holiday concert, pre-festival concert, MSBOA festival, and Collage. Auditions for high school band come out in early spring and acceptance to the high school program (if auditioning for Wind Ensemble or Symphonic Band) is usually posted by the end of April.
7th Grade Band
Seventh Grade Band continues upon the instruction and expanded instrumentation found in 6th grade band. It is at this level that students begin performing in MSBOA events including district Solo and Ensemble, Band Festival, audition for MSBOA All-State Band, and be nominated by their director for District 7 Middle School Honors Band. Instruction time is also expanded as the band meets five days a week for 50 minutes each class. The 7th grade band typically holds four performances throughout the year including a holiday concert, pre-festival concert, MSBOA festival, and Collage. Students do not need to audition for membership. Private lessons are highly recommended.
